A third of our children in Washington State are overweight - and more than ten percent of them are obese, according to reports.  In effort to combat this growing health crisis, the NPN Foundation is hosts the annual "Get Out and Play!" Day, a landmark event in the South Puget Sound.

The purpose of the event is simple: get kids playing outside in order to teach them the joys and give them the tools to lead a healthy, active lifestyle.  Childhood obesity is one of the most important health issues facing families in the nation: inactive lifestyles and poor nutrition choices start kids off on a dangerous path, which if unaddressed, often leads to cancer, cardiovascular disease, chronic lower respiratory disease, and diabetes in adults. All of these rates are growing at alarming speed.
